Peter Lauterborn for School Board

Dear friends,

As you all know, there have been questions about my standing in the School Board race for several weeks. I have taken my time to fully understand the situation so that I could come to the most honest resolution possible.

Having worked on YouthVote for several months, I have determined that the job presents a conflict of interest with campaigning for School Board, much less serving on the Board. While I strongly believe I am one of the most qualified people to serve on the Board, I also feel that I am the only individual who can realize YouthVote’s full potential.

Our schools need YouthVote to provide important survey data, elect strong Student Delegates, and support a new generation of civically engaged youth. My priority has always been to support students to my highest ability, and this is the best route I can take at this time.

I appreciate all of your support and guidance—not just over the past months of the campaign but for the years of collaboration I have enjoyed.

I am as resolved as ever to work in education and I look forward to more collaboration with all of you.
